Christmas in Dunbar Village
WAY-FM dropped by a home in Dunbar Village this morning, along with Urban Youth Impact. We visited a very sweet family -- one who had never had a Christmas tree before.
We brought a real tree. And lights, and garland, and jingle bells, and stockings, and presents for the mom and her four children, ages 12, 8, 2, and 4 months.
We plugged in the little star, and watched Chance's eyes light up. He wanted to sit with it forever.
Families need toys this Christmas, families just like this! Go here for all the information about the UYI Christmas Store, where parents will be able to "shop" for their little (and not so little) ones, from zero to teens. They need thousands of NEW, unwrapped toys, pronto. It can happen with your help, but we need thousands of toys today...
(Also pictured is my friend Paul Adams, from our midday show on WAY-FM.)

I read your blog about the visit to Dunbar village. I also read about it first on the Inner City Observations blog. It brought joy to me to see how little it takes to bring wonderment and what Christmas is all about to little children. Jesus loves the little children and Chance and his family had the opportunity to learn the reason for Christmas from the Nativity scene you gave them. This is so important. I want to thank you for making this Christmas special for the family. I know there are a lot of people in West Palm that need help. I've learned this from talking to my daughter, Miss Leneita.

Miss Leneita was in charge of the child care area at the Christmas Store on Saturday, right? My sister and I worked in that area and that is so true, there were soooo many parents (and their children) there that day....

Brant,
I wanted to thank you for posting about Dunbar...also, thank you for promoting our need for toys this past Saturday. God faithfully blessed us with more than we had hoped to receive.
Sincerely,
Jessica D.

Great blog! I might have to start listening to WAY-FM in the mornings. Thanks to you and UYI for making the light of Christmas a reality to so many in our community.
